The IEEE Student Branch of the University of Western Macedonia in Kastoria is a team of students with a number of actions in technological and non-technological fields alike. Founded in 2012 by Professor Michalas Angelos and students of the UoWM (formelly known as TEI of Western Macedonia at that time) the branch has implemented various projects and workshops related to computer science and more specifically in the fields of website development, data science, Internet of Things, game development, cyber security, educational activities and more.
Currently the branch consists of 30 active members and focuses on many different fields. I participated in its related activities as a volunteer during my first semester and on November 2022 I officially joined the IEEE and the Student Branch as a member, with a focus on the field of game development.
On October 28th 2023 the Student Branch participated in the 24-hour programming competition IEEEXtreme. I served as the Ambassador for the Student Branch during our preperation for the competition and my team. BitBenders finished 1930th out of the total 4418 participants.
After the elections conducted on October 22nd 2023 I became the Chairman of the Student Branch. I am responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the branch and all its related activities.
